This required course is a guide to lifetime wellness and making the correct choices to maintain good physical, mental and social health. Also a variety of health related fields are explored for purposes of vocational opportunities
Lifetime physical fitness will be emphasized through the use of the Fit For Life program. Cardiovascular fitness, target heart rate and training zones will be learned and practiced. Skills in various sports activities will also be included in this course.

This elective course will focus on the student learning first aid skills and also applying the skills in emergency situations. Activities include CPR-PR certification, Lifeguard certification and First Aid certification.

The student will participate in Ping-Pong, Archery, Bowling, Tennis, Badminton, Racquetball, Ice-skating, and Golf. Learning the skills and rules of the game, court and field dimensions, and good sportsmanship will be the focus of the class. The course will enable the student to participate in lifetime physical activities. The student may wish to schedule 1 Individual Sport class and 1 Team Sport class to fill one 18- week block.

Rules, skills, scoring, officiating and game strategies will be taught in the activities of flag football, volleyball, basketball, softball and soccer. This course is designed specifically for the female student who wishes to participate in activities expressly tailored to the female. The course shall consist of weightlifting techniques tailored to the female and team sports that are conducive to female participation.

This course will cover the basics of medical terminology including terms associated with several of the body’s systems. This class will be useful for students who want to pursue allied health careers and medical fields.
FREE WEIGHTS 4: 448
18 Weeks/1 Credit/Prerequisite: Introduction to Weightlifting
This class teaches students to use correct spotting procedures, safety procedures and correct lifting techniques. Weights 2, 3, and 4 level of difficulty will increase along with more in-depth knowledge of specific weight training. Individual programs will be set up for students, and charting will be kept.

This course is designed for improvement of strength and cardiovascular fitness for endurance
18 Weeks/1 Credit/Prerequisite: Sophomore and above
Sports Medicine 1 will allow the student to gain experience and expertise in the area of athletic training. The student will also gain insight into the health related fields of physical therapy, recreational therapy, occupational therapy, physician’s assistants and orthopedics.

A physically demanding course that will incorporate a variety of activities to develop overall body power, agility and speed. Athletes in season should not register for this class.

Total fitness increases heart and lung endurance through aerobic activities such as walking, step bench, low impact aerobics, fit for life equipment, jump rope, line dancing, and games. Muscle strength and endurance is accomplished through weight training and floor exercises. This class is open to male and female students.

Driver Education will be
offered as a 7:00 AM class if demand is high. When registering, please pay
special attention to the time you can take the class to meet the prerequisites.
Driver and traffic safety education provides students with experiences which enable
them to make the decisions necessary to move safely and efficiently within traffic situations. Through a sequence of classroom and supported driving experiences, students are introduced to the driving skills they need to safely operate a motor vehicle.
During classroom instruction, students learn information about the highway transportation system and the role of the motor vehicle in society. They learn basic maneuvers, decision making techniques, rules of the road, and driver performance involving alcohol and drugs. Students also receive classroom instruction in financial responsibilities associated with insuring and maintaining a motor vehicle.
In the driving phase of the course, students develop driving skills through actual behind-the-wheel experience on the bypass, downtown, open road, subdivision, Frederica Street, and the driving test course.
