OCTC Information

PARENTS OF OWENSBORO TECHNICAL COLLEGE STUDENTS:

If you have a student who attends Owensboro Technical College, either at the Owensboro or Daviess County campus, and your child should miss school, please call Cindy Hudson (852-7300) or Sue Koett (852-7305) at Daviess County High School to explain why your student has missed. A description of the process parents should follow is listed on page 18 of the student agenda book.

Records of absenteeism for vocational school students are kept at both schools, and both schools should be notified if a student is absent. Please realize that a high rate of absenteeism may require that the student be removed from the vocational program.

Absenteeism at Owensboro Technical College affects the ability of students to receive test exemptions at Daviess County High School.

Students who are tardy to vocational school will receive the same consequences as students who are tardy to any class. The consequences are listed on page 19 of the student agenda book. Please note that these rules apply

SNAP!

Since last fall KCTCS has been using a Web portal for faculty, staff, students and others to sign up for SMS text messages. This method worked so great that our vendor School Messenger has worked with us and implemented a new Web site for KCTCS folks to Opt-In.

You might say it is a “snappier”  SNAP since in addition to SMS text, you can now receive SNAP messages to your e-mail, as well as to your regular phone (or cell phone). Although this site has not yet received its’ “official” kick off for our students, we are encouraging all staff and faculty to go to the new site and register. Please register EVEN if you signed up previously with the old site (you will not receive duplicate messages by reregistering for SMS text messaging).

If you are signed up on the old site you will not receive two SMS text messages.  We are working with your college SNAP technical staff  so once you complete this registration and verifications process you will receive an e-mail.  And if you signed up you will get SMS text and if you wanted,  a voice call and even an

e-mail to an alternate address.

Attached is the documentation for the registration process.  Once you complete the registration and verifications process you will receive an e-mail confirming your registration.  After the process is complete you will receive SNAP messages according to your selection – SMS text, e-mail, and/or voice to phone.  If you need assistance please contact your local technical support staff.

Thank you for participating in SNAP!
